Course objective:
The goal of this course is to introduce students to three levels of international trade law:
- relations among states and/within international trade organizations, e.g. WTO, IMF, IBDR;
- relations between state and entities who realize the international trade into and/or out of state's territory;
- relations among private entities realizing the international trade;
The course focuses mainly on third of above mentioned topics. At the end of this course students will be able to explain the mechanism of international trade legal regulation. They will be able to identify the appropriate method for the regulation of international trade transaction. Special attention will be paid to CISG and its legal regulation of contracts for sale of goods. Students will also acquire skills enabling them to solve the basic legal situations concerning sale of goods contracts.
 
Course methods: Interactive classes, knowledge and skills of students are verified on solution of simplified practical cases.
 
Course content:
1.Three levels of international trade legal regulation (allowance 1/0)
2.Relations among states and/within international trade organisations - WTO (GATT, GATS, TRIPS), IMF, IBDR (allowance 1/0)
3.Basic methods which are used to solve the legal regime of relations with international element, sources of legal regulation (allowance 1/0)

Learning outcomes and competences:
After completing the course, student will be able to:
 
-Will be able to distinguish among all levels of international business
-Will be able to identify the basic concepts of interstate regulation of international business law
-Will be able to identify the basic legal concepts of the EU external business relations
-Will be able to solve the basic legal issues connected with international sale of goods. 
-Will be able to use the basic methods of international business relations legal regulation

Course completion:
Final written examination: simplified description of the matter of facts (area of international sale of good transaction) followed by questions requiring application of CISG. Students are required to:
- Identify the relevant facts
- Give the legal assessment
- Select appropriate legal regulation in CISG
- Apply the CISG
- State the result

10% of final evaluation is represented by participation on the conference "Beyond Horizons" in section "Consumer Research".
