To provide students with orientation in the basic parameters of the business environment, which are formed by harmonized EU legislation, to teach them to find relevant EU legal acts and their mandatory interpretation by ECJ in its case law, to understand their impact on business practice and also the possibility of businesses to make use of tools given by EU law for their own benefit. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Course methods: | Interactive learning with ppt presnetations support that combines lecturing with in class discussion. Students are invited to participate actively and to communicate on-line with the lecturer during their preparations for the final exam. Home reading and studying is essential, especially of texts and documents provided to students via SAVS information system. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

One short written tests during the semester focusing on the learning outcomes listed as LOs 1 and 2, i.e. system and sources of EU law and protection of rights of individuals in EU law. The test carries the 15 % weight in the final assessment. Another 10 % to the final assessment can be gained by preparing an individual presentation presented by student on an assigned topic. In combined/distance studies there is, due to a limited number of meetings, 1 mid-term test that carries 30 % weight in the final asssessment. Final exam combining a written part with subsequent oral discussion focusing the learning outcomes listed as LOs 2,3,4, i.e. legal framework of the EU Single market freedoms and a legal solution of case-situations. Final exam carries the 60 % weight in the final assessment. Participation to at least 80 % of in-class activities (incl. taking part in discussions) represents 15 % of the final assessment which in the winter semester of 2019/2020 requires also attendance of the ŠAVS Beyong Horizons conference (Section Consumer Research). Each requirement contributing to the final assessment should be successfuly completed by at least 40 %. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
