Course objective:
To provide students with a background in the basic principles and impacts of EU harmonization legislation in the area of ​​protection of workers' rights and social security of EU Member States´citizens. To familiarize them with the content and national application of the main sources of EU labor and social law. To teach them to deal with the types of situations (legal cases) that they can encounter in real terms in the context of employment and labor migration within the EU as natural or legal persons.
Course methods:
Interactive teaching with support of ppt presentations combining explanation and discussion. Continuous activity and cooperation are required from the students, especially their own study of the documents provided and recommended by the teacher (through the ŠAVS information system), as well as the activity in the class, i.e. students´ involvement in the discussion about the solution of model cases, etc. On-line communication with the teacher during the study of materials and in preparations for the final exam is welcome.

EU Institutions and EU primary law on labour and social rights (allowance 12/0)
Secondary EU Law - individual labour law 1 (allowance 3/0)
Secondary EU Law - individual labour law 2 (allowance 3/0)
Secondary EU Law - collective labour law (allowance 3/0)
Secondary EU Law - coordination of social security protection (allowance 3/0)
Connection between EU labour and social law and other areas of EU law and policies (allowance 3/0)
Current trends and perspectives of labour and social law of the EU (allowance 3/0)
10.Case analysis and solution - migration of economically active EU citizens and their family members (allowance 3/0)
Case analysis and solution - migration of economically non-active EU citizens and third countries´ nationals (allowance 3/0)

Learning outcomes and competences:
After completing the course, student:
Will analyze practical situations of infringement of the rights of employees, employers, socially needed individuals when they are moving between EU Member States, will distinguish and connect their factual and legal side, will draw conclusions for their solution in accordance with EU law
Will define and explain the content and tools of protection of the basic labour and social rights of individuals protected by EU law, will illustrate their principles on cases dealt with by the EU Court of Justice
Will define and explain the core legal sources, concepts and institutes of EU labour and social law, will demonstrate and illustrate their practical meaning

Course completion:
A short written "mid-term" test during the semester focusing on the knowledge and skills listed as LO1 and LO2. This test has a weight of 30% in the final evaluation. Non participation to this mid-term test can be made good by preparation of an individual presentation on a subject assigned by the lecturer. The active participation in the class discussion is important to achieve all the LOs assigned, its weight in the final evaluation is 10%. Extensive final written test focused on the knowledge and skills of the course, including the application of principles and EU law on model cases, i.e. LO 1, LO 2 and LO 3. This test has a weight of 60% in the final evaluation. Attendance to at least 75% of direct instruction is a condition of fulfilling study duties and admission to the final test.
Support for combined/distance forms of study:
Learning support explaining in particular the content of the tutorials and preparation for the tests. Powerpoint presentations and recommended reading provided by the teacher after each part of the subject's direct instruction. Study materials deposited with teachers in AIS prior to commencement of the course. Online consultation with the teacher during the course.
