Course title:
Modeling of Production and Logistics Systems
Semester: SS 2018/2019
Course supervisor:
Supervising department: Department of Logistics, Quality and Automotive Technology (ŠAVŠ)
Prerequisites for registration: Bachelor state examination or Operational Research II
Time allowance: full-time, 2/2 (hours of lectures per week / hours of seminars per week)
part-time, 0/16 (lectures per period / seminars per period)
Type of study: usual
Form of teaching:
lecture, seminar
Mode of completion and credits:
Exam (4 credits)
Course objective:
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic models and methods of analysis and optimization of production and logistics systems. The models deal with the design, management, measurement and improvement of production systems. Attention is also paid to models and analysis of supply chains. In the course the students will
become acquainted with both the analytical approach to solving problems and the possibilities of using computer simulation.

Learning outcomes and competences:
After completing the course, student:

-
Will analyze the data obtained from the real production system in order to parameterize the simulation model
-
Will apply theory of mathematical modeling to design of production systems
-Will demonstrate the use of computer experiments with a simulation model for the optimization of processes in production and logistics systems
-
Will prove the ability to use optimization models and heuristic methods for managing production systems
-
Will understand and explain the principles of optimizing processes in production and logistics systems
