Course objective:
The aim is to make students acquainted with basic statistical tools used in quality control.
 
Course methods:
Lectures and seminars once in a fortnight. Individual work with an assigned data (Pareto analysis,statistical process control, process capability analysis, acceptance sampling). The order of themes may be different in the combined form of study. Midterm test in the combined form within 2. tutorial or in another agreed term.

Learning outcomes and competences:
After completing the course, student:
 
-Will be able to explain the basis of statistical process control, choose a suitable type of the Shewhart chart for a given case, apply the chart and interpret the results
-Will be able to express the quality level of a process by means of capability indices
-
Will be able to choose and apply a single attribute acceptance sampling plan
-
Will be able to identify the most important causes of problems through the Pareto chart

project (10%), midterm test (30%), and final test (60%).
