Course objective:
The aim is to acquaint students with elementary methods of relationship analysis, with time series modelling and analysis and with basic types of indexes used for comparison of economic indicators.
 
Course methods: Seminars weekly. Calculators are used at seminars, Statgraphics or Excel during elaborating projects. Projects refer to regression and time series analysis. Points will be assigned only to those who will take an active part in the presentation.
 
Course content:

4.Coefficient of correlation. Multicollinearity. (allowance 0/2)

Learning outcomes and competences:
After completing the course, student will be able to:
 
-will be able to apply analysis of variance to assess the significance of differences between groups of results
-will be able to assess the existence of the relationship between two categorical variables and measure its strength
-will be able to compare values of economic indicators in different times
-will be able to describe the time series development by means of elementary characteristics, apply the classical decomposition of a time series and use the model for prediction
-will be able to measure the strength of the linear relationship by means of correlation coefficients, construct and apply a regression model and interpret the respective output

Course completion:
Evaluation: Course grade will be determined on the basis of the following:
mid-term evaluation 50 %, final exam 50 %. Mid-term evaluation involves class presentation (2x10%) and two continuous tests (2x15%), at least 30 % must be reached in the term. The final exam comprises a test (30%) and an oral exam (20%). 50% from each job at least.

100-90 - excellent
89 -75 - very good
74 -60 - good
less then 60 - failed
