Course title: Organization and Management of Production II

Course objective:
Provide students with basic knowledge and skills of production planning and control, which they will need to manage the positions of production managers and specialists. From the perspective of knowledge, students will learn about the roles of the various levels of production planning and control in manufacturing enterprises, methods and tools. In terms of skills, the focus is on mastering the production planning and control methods and tools suitable for planning of production capacities. Emphasis is placed on students' ability to apply acquired knowledge in practical solutions, through elaboration of semester work on concrete problem, with presentation and discussion of results.

Course content:
1.Structure and organization of the production process - workplace, production section, types of arrangement of workplaces, time structure, spatial distribution, flexible manufacturing systems (allowance 1/0)
2.Levels of production planning and control in manufacturing enterprises - Distribution and sequence of production planning and control in different levels of enterprises, goals, objectives, activities and tools of various levels (allowance 1/0)
3.Determination of production capacities and reserves - Production capacity, factors affecting the production capacity, determination of production capacities, principles of determine of production capacities, calculations of the production capacities, capacity utilization and reserves (allowance 1/2)
4.Planning and management of production capacities - types of capacitive strategies, capacitive balancing, capacity scheduling methods (allowance 1/8)
5.Principle, objectives and methods of production planning - practical approaches to production planning, examples from practice, frequent methods and tools (allowance 3/8)
6.Synchronized production - TOC (Theory of Constraints), OPT (Optimized Production Technology), scheduling through TOC, DBR (Drum Buffer Rope) concept for production planning and control (allowance 2/4)
7.Measuring and evaluating manufacturing indicators - key production indicators, measuring methods, calculations of production indicators (allowance 1/2)
8.Methods of examination and measurement of time consumption - methods of determining the time consumption, methods for study of labour-organizing system, multilateral observation methods (allowance 1/0)
9.Organisation of the production process - elements of the manufacturing process, layout of the production process, production flow, production lines (allowance 1/0)
Learning outcomes and competences:
After completing the course, student:
-Will apply foundational principles, methods and tools in the field of organization, management and production planning
-Will discuss basic problems of operational and tactical management
-Will evaluate the state of the production system and identify its main problems at each level of management
-Will recognize foundational principles of organization, organization, management and production planning at all management levels

Course completion:
1. Participation in seminars is a necessary condition to succeed. Maximum two unexcused absences are tolerated; two additional absences can be compensated in the form of a seminar paper on the topic of missed exercises. This applies to full-time study.

2. Points evaluation:
- The maximum for semester work is 40 points (max. 25 points for semester work "document" and max. 15 points for presentation). Students must obtain together at least 24 points to advance to the final exam.
- The maximum for the final exam is 60 points, students must obtain at least 30 points for successful completion of a course.

3. Exam:
- Dates of exams will be announced in the information system - AIS.
- Written part of the exam will have 30 minutes. Written part will be divided into two part. In the first one, students will select the correct answers from offered choices (15 questions). In the second, students will respond to the open questions (5 questions). The maximum for the written part is 40 points and students must obtain at least 20.
- Last part is the oral exam, which will have 10 minutes and student will answer to randomly selected question. The maximum for the oral part is 20 points.
