To provide students with orientation in the basic parameters of the business environment, which are formed by harmonized EU legislation, to teach them to find relevant EU legal acts and their mandatory interpretation by ECJ in its case law, to understand their impact on business practice and also the possibility of businesses to make use of tools given by EU law for their own benefit.
|Course methods:||Interactive learning with ppt presnetations support that combines lecturing with in class discussion. Students are invited to participate actively and to communicate on-line with the lecturer during their preparations for the final exam. Home reading and studying is essential, especially of texts and documents provided to students via SAVS information system.|
Learning outcomes and competences:
Teaching methods and workload (hours of workload):
Two short written tests during the semester focusing on the learning outcomes listed as a) and b), i.e. system and sources of EU law and protection of rights of individuals in EU law. Each test carries the 15 % weight in the final assessment. One od the short tests can be replaced by an individual presentation prepared and presented by student on an ssigned topic. Final exam combining a written part with subsequent oral discussion focusing the learning outcomes listed as c) and d), i.e. legal framework of the EU Single market freedoms and a solution of case-situations. Final exam carries the 60 % weight in the final assessment. Participation to at least 80 % of in-class activities (incl. taking part in discussions) represents 10 % of the final assessment. Each requirement contributing to the final assessment should be successfuly completed by at least 40 %.
|Support for combined/distance forms of study:|
Set of basic texts and documents provided to students upfront via SAVS information system. Powerpoint presentations and readings provided by lecturer after each class. On-line consulations with lecturer during the whole semester.
